The Saints and Los Angeles

Just back from giving a paper on ‘Mapping the Cult of Saints in Wales’ to the 38th Annual Celtic Conference of the University of California, held at UCLA, March 10-12. I set out my favourite example of St Cynog of Brycheiniog – in extended form and for the last time! – discussing the different elements that make up the saint’s dossier, the process of mapping them, and the questions raised by the resultant map.

I also got to see a little bit of southern California, and did some research into saints in place-names by taking the Big Blue Bus to Santa Monica …
